Staff Absences It is an inherent requirement of your role at St Patrick's that you are available to work as and when required, but we understand that we get sick, or injured, or need to care for a family member. ​ In the event of a known future absence, all staff should contact the Principal, Michael Bourne for approval of that absence. ​ In the event of an unexpected absence, teachers should call Deputy Principal, Julia Wake, on 0439 391 169 up to 9:00pm the night before, or after 6:30am on the morning of. Library Time Every class schedules a weekly session in the library. Children can borrow and take home five (5) readers per week and also borrow two (2) picture books/chapter books, for a maximum of seven (7) books per week. ​ Prep - Year 2 are expected to do a storybook session in the Library each week as well. Use our school created rubrics – Kate can modify them to suit particular genres as needed. These are frequently updated and are stored on Google Drive. SMART spelling (Years 3 - 6) - See Smart Spelling information here . Writing lessons Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are genre based and begin with a 10 minute spelling activity.
