Prep 2026 Information As we welcome our newest members of the St Patrick's community to Prep in 2026, there is a lot of information that parents and carers seek. Here is what you need to know to get started in 2026. School Uniform All of the school uniform information can be found on our website here . All uniform items that identify the school, such as polo shirts, house polos, backpacks, jumpers, hats and dresses are to be purchased through Academy Uniforms. Their Craigieburn store is open over the school holidays and the school uniform shop near the netball courts will reopen on Thursday 30 January from 9:00am to 5:00pm . All other uniform items (except shoes) can also be purchased through the uniform shop, but can be substituted for like items from other department-type store s. Sport uniform days will be advised closer to the start of Term 1 by the classroom teacher. Sports uniform is worn on the days that the class have PE and Visual Art. School Requisite Items St Patrick's provides a list of items that a student will use throughout the year, broken up into a list of items the school provides and a list of items required to be supplied by families. The list is provided at the end of the prep transition sessions, but the School Requisite List for 2025 can be found in the bag going home with students on the last orientation session. Back to School Reminders Please remember the following: Label everything that is being sent to school; If a kinder name is labelled on an item, such as lunch boxes, please change it to the 2025 class; Do not forget to add the student name and classroom to the reusable school lunch order bags to avoid lunch orders being lost; Canteen reopens on the first day of school - Friday 31 January; School Reopening The school office will reopen on Thursday 30 January , our Get To Know You (GTKY) Meetings and testing will be on Thursday 30 January and prep students will commence on Friday 31 January. Prep Testing Days Each prep student will undertake a testing session during one of the Wednesday rest days. Parents and carers need to book a day and time for this testing. You must answer all questions to be admitted to the group. SIMON Parent Access Module (PAM) You must ensure that you setup your PAM account. The Parent Access Module (PAM) is connected the school's SIMON student management system. From this account you can notify absences, access reports, provide and update medical information, nominate emergency contacts, etc. An account will be created for new families and you will receive an email to set up the new account. A letter in relation to PAM access for new families can be found here . You will utilise PAM to access school reports, grant permissions and notify absences. Other Dates Please refer to your SIMON PAM account for the 2025 school calendar. 2025 Welcome Barbeque To welcome our families to school for 2025, there will be a back-to-school barbeque on the evening of the first Friday of school, Friday 7 February 2025 from 4:30-6:00pm . 2025 School Fees Finally, school fees for 2025 have been set, and information can be found on the webpage here . School fee invoices will be sent out early in Term 1. All payments are made by direct debit. Please contact Deb Amodio, the Finance Officer, to setup your direct debit if you have not already done so. Late in 2021, our head office, MACS, released a new Concessional Fee Policy, which provides reduced fees for: families of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; families with Health Care or DVA Cards; or those families facing severe financial hardship. In order to be eligible for the Concessional Fee Policy, you must be entitled to the CSEF Payment, with an eligibility cut off date in April. Do not delay in applying for CSEF and Concessional Fee, as we cannot apply the discounts if the CSEF application is not approved. If you believe that you may be eligible for a concessional fee, please contact Deb Amodio (deb.amodio@spkilmore.catholic.edu.au ) to request the documentation to apply for the concessional fee. The concessional fee must be paid by direct debit and the concessional fee is not retrospective, and any existing debt stands in full. If you face issues in paying the school fees, at any time during the year, please contact Deb Amodio, and discuss what arrangements can be made to assist your situation. It is important that you contact the school early so that we can assist appropriately. Working With Children Checks St Patrick's Primary School takes our obligations and responsibilities in relation to child safety very seriously. The school is required to ensure that anyone that has direct contact with a child has been screened and inducted into the school appropriately. The State Government's WWCC provisions establish the minimum standard in our state. At St Patrick's, with the support of our head office, MACS, we have implemented higher standards to ensure the utmost protection for our students. These standards were developed in consultation with both MACS and Victoria Police. We require all visitors to the school who have direct contact with students, regardless of their relationship to the students, to hold a current and valid WWCC. This requirement applies to parents, all relatives over the age of 18, contractors and volunteers. Direct contact typically occurs during events such as camps, excursions, classroom assistance, and interactive events like the walkathon or work showcases. For visitors who do not have direct contact with students, while we still require them to sign in at the front office for emergency management purposes, a WWCC is not necessary. This includes situations such as parent-teacher meetings or attending assemblies where visitors do not engage directly with students. The school understands that the sign-in process can be time-consuming, and the school is including additional devices during events to assist with the timely processing. That said, these measures are in place to safeguard the students. The school cannot assume that a parent without a WWCC has simply overlooked the requirement; it is possible they may not hold a WWCC due to not passing necessary police clearances. Given that a significant majority of child-related offenses are committed by individuals known to the child, we prioritise the WWCC and induction requirement to ensure the safety of all our students. The induction process must be renewed every 12 months, and an email reminder will be sent to the registered email address and can be completed online rather than coming to the school. This requirement applies to any person over the age of 18. Exemptions do apply to anyone who is under 18, or a police officer, or a VIT-registered teacher. If any of these categories apply, you can say you have a WWCC exemption. We strongly recommend all parents and family members, such as grandparents who will visit on special occasions, to ensure you have a current WWCC. Specialist Subjects At St Patrick's we recognise that education is far more diverse than the traditional English and maths. To that end we provide our students with a range of specialist subjects to complete the curriculum. Physical Education Physical Education (PE) at St Patrick's focuses on developing students Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS), teamwork, cooperation, respect and to promote the benefits of leading an active lifestyle. Each class attends a weekly one hour PE lesson where students practise their movement skills, develop new movement strategies and concepts to give them the confidence to participate in a range of sporting and game based activities. The students learn functional language through speaking, communicating, using gestures, reading and writing. Each class attends a French lesson for one hour a week. Transitioning to Prep Starting prep is a very exciting time for the whole family and the beginning of your child's journey through school. At St Patrick's, we aim to provide a welcoming and supportive community filled with opportunities for children to grow in confidence as they begin their first school year. Our Transition to School program is made up of several parts which this year have had to be adjusted in light of current restrictions. For the remainder of the year we have the following Transition activities planned: Family Information Sessions; Modified Small Group Transition Sessions; Kindergarten contact; Additional Family Meeting. Once at school, the transition is further assisted through: Wednesday rest days at the beginning of the school year, where Preps do not attend school so they can take a break midweek to help them get used to attending school on a full time basis. These dates will be confirmed towards the end of 2020. the Buddy program where each prep student is "buddied up" with a senior student. The dates for these sessions are Monday 16th, Wednesday 18th, Monday 23rd and Wednesday 25th November, pending current restrictions and guidelines. Families will receive an invitation for their child to attend one of these sessions. Sessions will only be one hour long with a maximum of ten students in attendance. Prep 2026 Meeting Bookings As part of the Prep 2025 application process, all prospective students and their families attend an application meeting with the School Principal, Michael Bourne. Please book this compulsory meeting using the form below. St Patrick's Primary School Kilmore welcomes you to our online booking for Prep 2026 Application Meetings. At least one parent/carer and the 2026 prep student are required to attend the meeting. The appointment will take approximately 30 minutes and we ask that you arrive 5 minutes early. Wellness Programs St Patrick's Primary School have a range of different wellness programs that are aimed to providing students with a diverse range of activities and programs to address their specific needs. Bounce Back! The BOUNCE BACK! Wellbeing & Resilience Program looks at the environmental and personal skills for building resilience in children and young people. The program focuses mainly on the teaching of coping skills to help children and young people respond positively to the complexity of their everyday lives. In other words, children are taught how to ‘bounce back’ after experiencing sadness, difficulties, frustrations and hard times. It is based on the belief that change and loss are part of life and grief is a normal response to these losses. The Seasons for Growth program provides an opportunity for children to learn the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to understand and respond well to grief and loss experiences (e.g. death, separation, divorce). Together, they participate in regular shared learning activities throughout the year, including literacy, inquiry, maths games, cooking and craft. It helps the Preps feel safe at school and promotes leadership and responsibility in the Grade 6's, who do an amazing job nurturing and guiding the preps through their first year. It is a rewarding and positive program for all involved! Imagination Club St Patrick's work with the I-CAN Network and together we embrace Autism. Through the Imagination Club we also recognise that many students don’t have a diagnosis, or their diagnosis has not been disclosed. Our school's mentoring program is called ‘Imagination Club – for students with big imaginations’. More information on Imagination Clubs can be found on the I CAN Network website here . Theraplay Theraplay is an engaging, playful, relationship-focused treatment method that is interactive, physical and fun. It can be used for children and adults of all ages, but is most effective between the ages of 18 months and 12 years. Children who can benefit from Theraplay often show internalised behaviours such as withdrawal, depression, fearfulness or shyness, externalised behaviours such as acting out, anger and non-compliance, and also relationship or attachment problems. Theraplay has been used with children with ASD, developmental delays and physical disorders quite effectively. Yoga and Meditation Our Yoga and Meditation program is specialised just for kids. The program focuses on teaching self awareness, calming, emotional regulation and love. Yoga and meditation is an effective method for resolving trauma, anxiety and improving emotional wellbeing. It also assists with regulating behaviours, concentration, physical health and decreasing stress. Mass and Liturgy Religious education at St Patrick’s is not confined to Religious Education classes. Christ is at the centre of all of our endeavours. As a learning community joined together in faith we aim to bear witness to Christ’s vision and values in all aspects of school life. In doing so, we extend our formal religious education to include class mass at church and whole school liturgies. Class Mass at Church Classroom teachers prepare liturgical celebrations with their students. Students have an opportunity to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word and Eucharist through attending class mass. Every class prepares for and attends at least once per semester. Mass is held in the St Patrick’s Church at 9am on weekdays. Families and members of the Parish and school community are always welcome to attend these celebrations. Whole School Liturgies Whole School Masses are celebrated during the year. Special Liturgies are celebrated in accordance with the Liturgical Calendar and the school community is welcome to attend. Places of worship are the Parish church, stadium and court yard.

Classroom Subjects St Patrick's Primary School breaks up the Victorian Curriculum into subjects taught both in the classroom and in specialised environments within the school. Literacy Our literacy program reflects the various elements of the Victorian Curriculum which includes reading and viewing, writing and spelling and speaking and listening. Parents and Friends Committee The Parents and Friends Committee is a volunteer group of families that meet each month to discuss activities for the school and organise social and fundraising events for both within the school and the broader community. The P&F conduct various social activities such as Mother's and Father's Day breakfasts, disco and movie nights, Mother's Day luncheon and the new families barbeque. The fundraising activities are conducted to raise money for internal purposes such as major equipment purchases like the synthetic turf and new playground equipment, as well as for external purposes such as Caritas (international aid and development organisation of the Catholic Church in Australia), St Vincent's De Paul and other community and relief organisations. The P&F committee is made up of a president, vice president, secretary, assistant secretary, treasurer and assistant treasurer, along with general committee members. General committee members can be involved in the committee as much or as little as they wish. Some choose to only attend a few meetings a year and simply provide feedback, whereas others choose to take the lead and run specific events, and others will simply help out on an ad hoc basis for individual events. There is no need for specific skills or abilities, it is more important that you bring your own life skills and experience as a family member at the school. Being on the P&F committee is a great way to establish new friendships within the school community and to also show your children that you too have a commitment to the school.
